SABINE ENSE
Sabine came to the U.S. from Germany in 2001. She grew up with horses firmly involved in family life, she says she and her sister could ride a horse before they could walk.
Sabine has more than 30-years experience in starting, training and showing dressage, jumping and three-day-eventing. She has successfully trained and competed in Germany through Prix St. George and through Intermediate 1 in the U.S.. In addition she was a member of her state’s Junior and Young Rider 3-day-eventing team.
Sabine has earned her bronze and silver medals competing through FEI levels in the USA and she is halfway to her gold medal.
She graduated from the USDF “L” Education Program for judges training with distinction and she is a licensed USEF “r” dressage judge. In November 2022 Sabine has been approved for the USEF “R” dressage judges program.
In her native Germany she received her bronze and silver medals, is a certified “Reitwart” and has her testate status judging card.
Sabine credits her father, Horst Ense, as her most important and influential mentor and trainer. He was an FEI judge and an international course builder. He served as the president of the German Breeding Association and vice president of the German Equestrian Federation (FN).
Sabine has worked with a variety of members of the German Equestrian Federation, including training with Antonie de Ridder, an FEI trainer who was instrumental in advancing his wife, Alexandra Simons de Ridder and her horse “Chacomo” up to competing in in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Besides others, Sabine has cliniced in the US with Volker Brommann, Christine Traurig, Jan Ebeling, Heidi Gaian, Dr. Gerd Heuschmann and Mike Osinski.
Since June 2023 Sabine operates her business out of Williams Creek Ranch, a premier equestrian facility located in Southern Oregon’s beautiful Applegate Valley. For more information about the facility please visit wcror.com
At Williams Creek Ranch Sabine trains horses with traditional German training methods based on the Training Scale. She emphasizes on the correct position and seat of her students to enable them to effective riding and on the suppleness and correctness of her horses.
In her training the horse always comes first. Sabine’s philosophy is that a content and relaxed equine partner is the basis for success.
